Marea is an 18-metre motor yacht with her own captain and crew, berthed at Porto Montenegro in Tivat. She carries up to 16 guests for a day on the water and six for a week of sleeping aboard. A day starts at €2,600; seven nights on board are €21,000. We have run this one boat since 2019, and the route is drawn up with you the evening before you sail rather than sold to you as a fixed tour.

A day on the water
Out of Porto Montenegro in the morning, back before the light turns. Kotor and Perast in one direction, the Blue Cave in the other, and a swimming stop wherever the water is worth stopping for. From €2,600.

Several nights aboard
Anchor in a quiet bay, wake to coffee on deck. Two nights already put Budva and the open coast within reach, which no single day out of Tivat can manage. €3,400 a night.

A week on board
Seven days is where the coast opens up: Montenegro end to end, the outer islands, and as far as the Croatian archipelago if that is the week you want. €3,000 a night instead of €3,400.
What a week gives you that a day cannot
Distance, mostly. Tivat to the Blue Cave is two hours each way; Tivat to Budva is four. On a day charter those hours are the trip. On a week they are a morning, and the afternoon is still yours.
It also changes what the boat is for. A day charter is a route with a return time attached to it. A week has no return time until the last morning, so the anchor goes down where the swimming is good rather than where the schedule allows, and dinner happens at Bigova or Stari Mlini because someone felt like it at five in the afternoon.
Six guests sleep aboard in three cabins, all rebuilt over the 2025–26 winter. The captain and the steward stay with you the whole week.
What it costs
Rates are for the whole yacht with captain and crew, not per person. Sixteen guests on a four-hour charter works out at about €163 each.

A day in the Bay of Kotor, hour by hour
This is the eastern route, the one most guests take first. Times shift with your group and the weather — the captain moves them, not the other way round.

Board in Tivat. Bags below, shoes off, the safety briefing takes four minutes and then we are out past the breakwater.

Kamenari
Oysters are ordered from the water here — you call across from the boat and they bring them out to you. They are opened on deck ten minutes after they leave the farm, and that gap is the whole reason they taste different.

Our Lady of the Rocks
The man-made island off Perast, built up over centuries by sailors dropping stones. We circle it slowly, and you can go ashore to the museum if you want the hour.

We tie up for an hour. It is a single street of Venetian houses under a mountain, and it is small enough to see properly in that hour.

Lunch at anchor
The grill goes on at the stern while you swim. Sea bream, prawns, vegetables. Nobody eats sitting up straight.

SUP boards out along the shoreline coves. The water here stays cold well into August because of the freshwater springs coming off the mountain.

A last swim off the island on the way home, then back into Tivat with the light going gold behind Luštica.

The boat after the refit
Marea came out of a full refit over the winter of 2025–26. Both cabins and hull: new upholstery on the sofas and cabin beds, a rebuilt galley and salon, restitched curtains, a new coffee machine, new speakers. Outside, the hull was polished and the bridge navigation replaced.
She is 18 metres, three cabins, and one captain who has run her since 2019. That last part matters more than the specification: he knows where to anchor at sunset when the wind is north-west, and which cove is still empty in the second week of August.

How much does it cost to charter Marea in Montenegro?
A four-hour day charter is €2,600 and eight hours is €3,000, for the whole yacht with captain and crew. Nights aboard are €3,400 each, and a full week is €21,000 — €3,000 a night rather than €3,400.
How many guests can come?
Sixteen for a day charter and six overnight, because six is how many berths there are in the three cabins. Groups of sixteen who want to sleep aboard usually split the trip: a day out with everyone, then a shorter list for the nights.
Where does the boat leave from?
Porto Montenegro in Tivat, which is her home berth and where the price includes the mooring. Boarding elsewhere along the coast is arranged in advance and depends on where she is that day.
When is the season?
May to October. June and September are the two months we would pick ourselves: the water is warm, the bay is not full, and the light in September sits lower and turns gold earlier in the afternoon.
Is food included?
The welcome drink, water, ice and fruit are. Lunch is not — we buy what you want and charge what it cost, or you order a private chef aboard for €300. Most guests take oysters from Kamenari and let the grill do the rest.
